Journey Together

Journey TogetherJourney Together

About

Anna Frlan

I understand what it's like to live with a chronic condition. My husband, Daniel, understands what it's like to be a caregiver.

My goal for this website is to bring hope, encouragement, and helpful insights for those journeying through a chronic condition or caring for someone who is. This is the website I wish I would have had several years ago. I hope it's a blessing to you. You are not alone on your journey.

Sharing My Story

I spent over six years navigating chronic pain and limited mobility before finally receiving a diagnosis: Stage IV Endometriosis. By then, my internal organs were beginning to fuse together. I relied on a wheelchair when I needed to go further than a city block and followed an anti-inflammatory diet to help reduce symptoms as much as I could. I lost count of how many tests, scans, and medical visits I had during those years.

It took more than 20 healthcare professionals to reach the right diagnosis and treatment. I was gifted with a skilled and compassionate care team—including general practitioners, specialists, physical therapists, surgeons, and over 100 support staff—who played a vital role in restoring my health. I’m living a full, healthy life today because of them, and I’m deeply grateful.

Through it all, my family, friends, and faith anchored me. I can't imagine having navigated a chronic condition without them. They are the reason I was able to continue enjoying working full-time and complete a master's degree while navigating this chronic condition.

My husband, Daniel, has walked with me every step of the way - in sickness and in health - serving with grace, love, and compassion as both spouse and caretaker. He is my superhero.

Gratefully Giving Back

While I wouldn’t wish this journey on anyone—or choose to go through it again—I’m now thankful for the experience. It taught me deep resilience, the importance of relying on others, and led me to incredible people I wouldn’t have met otherwise. It’s also what inspired this website.

Originally, the website was going to focus solely on Endometriosis, since I had lived with that for years. But as I connected with more people navigating other chronic conditions—or supporting someone who was—I realized the resources I wanted to share applied far beyond just one diagnosis.

That’s why this space is for anyone impacted by a chronic condition—both those living with it and those walking alongside them. Caregivers need support, too.

Though I still manage other chronic conditions, it's nothing compared to what I experienced with Endometriosis. I sometimes wonder, Why was I healed when others still suffer? While it’d be easier to leave those painful years behind and not think about them any longer, I want to help others. As disability advocate and encourager, Joni Eareckson Tada, once said, “To whom much is given, much is required.”

This website exists because I have been given much through the experience of living through a very painful battle with Endometriosis. Now, I have renewed energy to gratefully give back, offering support and encouragement to others going through a chronic condition journey.
